Explore the natural world on 67 acres of wild and cultivated land at Potomac Overlook Regional Park in Arlington, Virginia. Hike miles of trails while following interpretive displays to learn about Northern Virginia’s flora and fauna. Our educational organic vegetable garden hosts school trips and summer nature camps, while other demonstration gardens showcase native plants and insects and live animal displays. Visit the James I. Mayer Center for Environmental Education to learn about the connections between humans and the natural world. Potomac Overlook Regional Park also hosts a popular summer camp for kids.

Potomac Overlook Regional Park is an absolute gem of a park in Virginia it offers a wide variety of recreational activities for individuals and families alike. As someone who has visited the park multiple times, I can confidently say that it is one of my favorite outdoor destinations in the area.

I was staying in Arlington with a group of HS students and teachers. I wanted to run to the Potomac from where we were staying so I mapped out a route and was led to and through the Potomac Regional Park and am I so glad I checked it out! What a gorgeous and fun nature park! I ran through twists and turns and ended up down at the Potomac. I loved every minute of it!

My favorite local park. Lots to do for kids, lots of trails, basketball/tennis. Great park to stroll, picnic, walk to Potomac heritage trail for real workout.

Playground
Several playgrounds and a nature trail.
Restrooms
Restrooms in main building and park entrance.
Dog-friendliness
Must leash dog but trails they can roam. PLEASE pick up after them.
Picnic area
Several picnic areas at park entrance and in park itself. I usually take a picnic down a trail and find a nice spot.
