Korean Ambassador to the United States Cho Tae-yong celebrated the ten-year anniversary of the Korean Bell Garden at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens on Friday, October 7 at 4 p.m. with a ceremonial planting of a Korean Pine Tree. Elected officials in attendance included Fairfax County Supervisor Walter L. Alcorn, Senator George Barker, Delegate David L. Bulova, Delegate Irene Shin, Delegate Vivian E. Watts, and Delegate Karrie K. Delaney.
Unveiled as a joint effort between NOVA Parks and the Korean American Cultural Committee (KACC) in 2012, the Korean Bell Garden serves as a cultural landmark for Korean Americans and is the only one of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. It is also the only public Korean Bell Pavilion on the East Coast. The bell and pagoda were created in Korea in the traditional style used for centuries. The Korean Bell Garden also contains Korean monuments and statues, walls and stone structures adorned with traditional Korean symbols, and a flowing water way.
