Potomac Overlook Regional Park
Forest Bathing and Story Weaving

Next Date
Curious about discovering your creative voice in nature? Join us for a unique spring morning that combines the gentle practice of forest bathing with the joy of Story Weaving at Potomac Overlook Regional Park. No writing, storytelling, or other experience needed - just bring your openness to wonder! As the forest awakens with new stories of its own - budding leaves, returning birdsong, and tender wildflowers - we'll discover how our own stories intertwine with nature's narratives.
Story Weaving is a delightfully simple yet profound way to uncover the stories that live within and around us. As the forest shares its own springtime stories through unfurling leaves and morning birdsong, we'll discover how our experiences weave naturally into the larger tapestry of life, and then weave together unique shared stories. This isn't about "being a good writer" or "telling the perfect story" - it's about opening our senses and sharing your voice with the natural world and a warm community-of-the-morning.
Certified forest bathing guide Ilana Rubin of Kindred Nature will lead you through this enriching journey where forest bathing (nature therapy)'s mindful nature connection meets the playful and connecting spark of Story Weaving. Through gentle sensory invitations in nature, peaceful walking, and creative reflection, you'll be invited to explore connections you might never have imagined. As we gather beneath spring's canopy, we'll have the opportunity to weave our discoveries together, creating a warm community space where every voice adds its own unique thread to our shared experience. We’ll close with a gratitude practice, sharing light snacks and local tea.
Whether you consider yourself "creative" or not, this experience welcomes you exactly as you are. Come discover how the forest's spring awakening can inspire your own creative spark! We'll walk less than a mile at a contemplative pace over various terrain (paved/unpaved, flat/sloped), with all activities adaptable to your comfort level. Writing materials will be provided, though you're welcome to bring your own journal and pen if you prefer. To learn more about forest bathing, you are welcome to explore Kindred Nature, watch this video from the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs, or this video from CBS Mornings.
