FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN ARE RENTALS AVAILABLE?

Rentals are available on the Weekends. The last rental goes out one and a half hours prior to closing. Please see the chart below for exact hours of operation. All hours are weather permitting for your safety.

CAN I RENT A BOAT ON A WEEKDAY?

Boat rentals are only available through reservation to groups of no less than eight people on weekdays. If your group would like to rent boats on a weekday, please email pohick@nrpa.org to make a reservation. Please note, weekday group reservations must be made no less than two days prior and have a minimum rental time of four hours.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE AVAILABLE FOR RENTALS?

We rent standup paddleboards, canoes, pedal boats, as well as single and double kayaks.

WHAT DOES MY RENTAL INCLUDE?

Your rental includes a paddle, a life vest, and the watercraft selected.

WHERE DO I PAY FOR MY RENTAL?

All rentals take place at our Eagle’s Nest building on a first-come-first-serve basis. Our Eagle’s Nest building is located adjacent to the waterfront picnic area and the Heron and Osprey picnic shelters (lower level of the marina loop).

CAN I MAKE RESERVATIONS IN ADVANCE?

Due to high demand of rentals as well as our increased disinfecting protocols, we are unable to take reservations during normal rental hours. All rentals are first-come-first-serve.

I HAVE MY OWN BOAT, BUT I FORGOT MY PADDLE AND/OR LIFE VEST. CAN I RENT ONLY THAT?

No, we do not rent individual life vests or paddles. Life vests and paddles are only available with a boat rental.

CAN I BRING MY DOG ONTO THE WATER WITH ME?

For their safety, animals are not permitted on any park kayaks or paddleboards.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO USE THE RENTALS?

Guests must be at least 16 years of age to rent boats & sign the waiver. To operate, a guest must be:

  • at least 16 years of age to operate a paddleboard
  • at least 12 years of age to operate a double kayak with an adult 21 years of age or older
  • all guests 13-15 years of age must be accompanied on the water by an adult at least 21 years of age or older
