Temple Hall Farm Fall Festival and Legacy Farms: The Bus Stops Here
Fall holds its ranking for one of the most nostalgic seasons of the year. It is a time of sensory overload and when our schedules become packed with after school activities, football games and visiting friends and family. Can't you smell the bonfires and taste the pumpkin spiced EVERYTHING just thinking about the season's change? We happen to be fall crazy around here and for good reason. The 2016 Temple Hall Fall Festival and Corn Maize has begun and the list of fun things to do will entertain a 1 year old to a 100 year old. How does Granny feel about camels and corn cannons?
This weekend is a particularly special time at the Fall Festival and Corn Maize. This year's Maize design brings awareness to Autism Spectrum Disorder and is very close to the hearts of our NOVA Parks and Temple Hall Farm Staff. In the summer of 2015, Temple Hall Farm donated 1/2 acre of land for Legacy Farms, a nonprofit organization that provides support services and agrarian based vocational training for adults with autism and other developmental challenges, to use as their hands-on classroom. This allowed them to set off their pilot program called "The 2015 Summer Garden Project", which continued for a second year this past summer.
Our relationship and partnership has continued to grow with Legacy Farms as they have become an outstanding staple in Northern Virginia. On Saturday, October 15th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Temple Hall Farm will host Legacy Farm's "The Bus Stops Here" event. This is a part fundraising, part advocacy event mixed with a lot of fun. The funds raised will support Legacy Farms infrastructure development, as well as maintain their new Greenhouse Project and ensure hands-on educational opportunities continue throughout the year. So come out and have a great time supporting anamazing cause. For more information on this event, please visit LEGACY FARMS.
