The Pirates Are Back

Cannon blast at Ball's Bluff

We at NOVA Parks really start to flourish around this time of year. There is something exciting about the rush to get the waterparks open just in time for the heatwave, after what seems like endless days of late-spring showers. Following the waterparks opening, one of our favorite annual events that always draws in a great crowd is Pirate Day. Pohick Bay Regional Park Manager, Kevin Casalenuovo remarks on some great aspects of the day, "My favorite part of Pirate Day is seeing the battle take place! The backdrop of the beach and the water makes for a really cool scene. The living history aspect is very interesting and you get to see a snapshot in time." How can one not get excited about pirate attire, beach battles and pirates on waterslides? This weekend marks the 9th year that we have hosted Pirate Day at Pohick Bay Regional Park and it looks like the weather will be fabulous. Be sure to pack your bathing suits, eye patches, bandanas and all other pirate must-haves as you join us this weekend for Pirate Day at Pohick Bay Regional Park. See you there mateys!
