FAQ
How many people does each site accommodate?
Campsite: The maximum number per campsite is seven people, including children.
Cabins: The maximum number per cabin is six people, including children.
Are the sites back in or pull through?
Bull Run has a combination of both options. You may ask for your preference when making a reservation. Pohick Bay has limited pull through options. For detailed site information please call the park office.
Are the sites shaded?
All camping sites are in a wooded setting with
moderate to heavy shade.
How many cars per site?
Each site has space for two vehicles in addition to the camping vehicle. This includes cars, trucks, and boats, enclosed or open trailers. Parking is provided in nearby lots for additional vehicles. Service and commercial vehicles, tractors and construction equipment are prohibited.
How late can we enter the campground?
All NOVA Parks facilities close at dark however the campgrounds are always open to campers. The gate does not close and lock.
Can we bring our own firewood?
Federal law prohibits the transportation of firewood. NOVA Parks prohibits bringing firewood into our parks. Firewood may be purchased at the camp store.
Can we reserve a specific site or cabin?
At the time you make your reservation we will honor your request for a specific site if the site is available for the duration of your stay. We reserve the right to change your site if an emergency situation arises.
Are reservations necessary?
Pohick Bay: Reservations are required. Reservations cannot be made for the same day after 8:00 pm. Visit reservepohickbay.com or call 1-866-881-0809 to make your reservation.
Bull Run: Reservations are required. Reservations cannot be made for the same day after 8:00 pm. Visit reservebullrun.com or call 1-866-881-0809 to make your reservation.
What is our cancellation/refund policy?
Campsites and Cabins: Reservations require full payment at time of booking. Each site must have a designated primary occupant. Campers may not register for more than two (2) campsites, including cabins and RV/tent sites, during a single camping stay without approval from park management. An individual is only permitted to be the primary occupant for one site. The primary occupant is responsible for ensuring all rules and regulations are followed by the campers and guests in their site.
In the event that you change your dates (once confirmed) or cancel your reservation, the following cancellation policies apply:
- 14 days or more outside of reservation date full refund minus a $10.00 cancellation/change fee.
- 13 days or less from reservation date full refund minus 1 night stay, 2 night stay on holiday weekends.
- 48 hours from reservation date no refund or changes accepted.
If you are attempting to add a date to your stay, change the site number, upgrade your site, adjust amount of guests, pets and any other modification not resulting in changes to the original reservation arrival date, you will be able to do so through the call center or online prior to your stay, for no additional change fee.
What is the minimum/maximum stay?
Campsites: Minimum stays may vary depending on the time of year but campers may stay at one or both NOVA Parks camping facilities for a maximum of (2) weeks (14 days) in a 45 day period.
Cabins: Minimum stays may vary depending on the time of year but campers may stay at one or both NOVA Parks camping facilities for a maximum of one (1) week (seven days) in a four (4) week period (28 days).
Age requirement?
Campsites: You must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of the site during the rental period to register.
Cabins: You must be 21 years of age or older and a resident of the cabin during the rental period to register. Minors may not be left unattended in the campground at any time.
Are pets allowed?
Campsites: Pets are allowed in all campsites. Owners must obey Fairfax County leash law and pick up after them.
Cabins: Pets are prohibited in all cabins and on cabin sites.
