Learn to Shoot Classes/Private Lessons
Learn to Shoot Safety Class
Our Learn to Shoot Safety Class takes non-shooters and beginners through the basics of learning to handle a shotgun and getting range ready. This class is offered every Saturday and Sunday at 9:45am, 11:30am, 1:15pm, and 3:00pm. The Learn to Shoot Safety class covers range etiquette/rules, safely handling of the shotgun, loading/unloading, stance and shooting clay targets. Each class holds 6 people and pre-registration is required as we cannot guarantee walk-in space. The class is $45 per person and lasts about 1 ½ hours. All equipment is included with the exception of eye protection. Safety glasses, regular eyeglasses or sunglasses are acceptable forms of eye protection. Inexpensive eye protection can be purchased at the range if needed. Open to everyone age 12 and up.
Shooting Activities
Bull Run Shooting Center offers 5 different shotgun games that are fun and exciting for new or experienced shooters, including sporting clay, skeet, trap, wobble trap and five stand.
Sporting Clays is a form of clay pigeon shooting with different stations laid out over natural terrain. Each station has multiple birds which can be thrown as singles or simultaneously. Unlike trap and skeet, which are games of repeatable target presentations, sporting clays simulates the unpredictability of live-quarry shooting, offering a great variety of trajectories, speeds, elevations, distances, and target sizes.
Shotgun Tournaments
Bull Run Public Shooting Center hosts tournaments throughout the year. The tournaments are open to the public, and registration is conducted on the day of the tournament. All tournaments start at 9:00 a.m. and are typically held on Saturdays. Please call 703-830-2344 for additional information. The park is also home to National Sporting Clays Association Registered Shoots.
*REMINDER Our Sporting Clays course is closed every Friday before a tournament so we can safely re-set the course for the tournament. Our fields of Skeet, Trap, Wobble and 5-Stand are open as normal on those days.
